Year of Prayer for the Canonization of Anne-Marie Javouhey

Join us in prayer as Cluny Sisters around the world launch a special ‘year of prayer’ for the canonization of Blessed Anne-Marie Javouhey.

Year of Prayer

The year of prayer begins 15th of August 2020. This is the day the church celebrates the Feast of the Assumption of Mary and the congregation celebrates Mary as our perpetual Superior General. The year of prayer will end on 15th of July 2021, that being the Feast of Blessed Anne-Marie!

Cor Unum et Anima Una

The congregation’s ‘cor unum’ (unity of hearts) will no doubt be strongly felt as 2,500 sisters in 56 countries around the world join in prayer for this intention. It is our hope that our affiliates, associates, co-workers, benefactors and friends will also join in praying for the canonization of Blessed Anne-Marie.

Who was Blessed Anne-Marie

Blessed Anne-Marie Javouhey was the foundress of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny. At her Beatification in 1950, Pope Pius XII described her as the “first woman missionary”. She is commonly referred to as ‘a great missionary’ and ‘liberator of slaves’ and was included in the ‘Route of the Abolition of Slavery’, a project that is part of the International Project ‘The Slave Route’ supported by the United Nations and UNESCO.

Prayer for the Canonization
of Blessed Anne-Marie

aa
Lord our God,
You enabled Blessed Anne-Marie
to consecrate herself to the carrying out
of your Holy Will in all things
and to be ever attentive to your calls
as manifested through the poorest
of her brothers and sisters.

Grant that we, in the Church of our day,
may zealously continue the work
you confided to her.
Through her intercession
hear the prayers we address to You.

… (intention(s) could be mentioned here)

In your goodness,
grant us the favor of her canonization,
for your glory and to promote your reign
of love, justice and peace.
Amen!

Beata Ana Maria, Ora Pro Nobis, Ora Pro Nobis!

(Notre Dame des Victoires, Paris, France, General Chapter 2018)
