Our celebration of the 25th anniversary of Cluny presence in the Philippines was held in Aguilar. It was a very beautiful and touching experience for all of us. The presence of Sister Elizabeth Browne-Russell, not only to represent our Provincial, Sister Allison McAllister, but as one of the pioneering sisters made the celebration memorable. It was also a great joy to have Sister Priscilla George return to the Philippines from India for the celebrations.
The celebration started with Holy Mass which was concelebrated by Bishop Ricardo L. Baccay, Bishop of our diocese and the Bishop Emeritus, Jesus A. Cabrera who was instrumental in bringing the Cluny Sisters to the Philippines. There were also four diocesan priests present along with many of the teachers and students from our schools in Aquilar, Labrador and Mangatarem.
The Mass was followed by a short program and lunch at the Aguilar Catholic Elementary School. A Power Point presentation of the history of the Cluny Sisters in the Philippines was shown. It was not only enjoyable but also informative for many of the guests.
Each of our three schools shared a presentation involving teachers and students. The two bishops delivered very inspiring messages of appreciation of the sisters’ creative ministries. Sister Elizabeth shared with us Sister Allison’s message. There were more than 300 people present and all were served sumptuous food while the program was going on. Following are some of the photos taken of the celebration.
May God bless us with many more years of ministry in the Philippines !
