In his address, the Pope explained the reason for his visit:
"We have come to call the attention of the world to this grave humanitarian crisis and to plead for its resolution. As people of faith, we wish to join our voices to speak out on your behalf."
He then returned to the Vatican with twelve Syrian refugees including six minors, who were welcomed by the Catholic charitable association Sant’Egidio community.
But we must go further and tackle the causes of this crisis:
"We appeal to the international community to respond with courage in facing this massive humanitarian crisis and its underlying causes, through diplomatic, political and charitable initiatives, and through cooperative efforts, both in the Middle East and in Europe" .... It is thus necessary to put an end to the war.... "As leaders of our respective Churches, we are one in our desire for peace and in our readiness to promote the resolution of conflicts through dialogue and reconciliation."
We ask you to join the Cluny Sisters in praying for all the refugees who are caught in this humanitarian crisis and for a resolution based on compassion, dialogue and reconciliation.
