France / Switzerland

Anne-Marie Javouhey founded the congregation in France. This gives the Province of France/Switzerland the privilege of making the ‘sources of the congregation’ its home, a place where groups of both sisters and lay people from around the world meet regularly.

  • 16 communities
  • 130 sisters
  • Founded in 1807
  • 1 community
  • 8 sisters
  • Founded in 1912

Despite the advancing age of the province, the mission remains alive and varied. In collaboration with the laity, the communities are present

  • in schools
  • a home for children’s social welfare
  • health centers
  • a spirituality center
  • and a hostel.

A number of sisters are involved in pastoral minisitry in the local parishes.

Particular attention is paid to older sisters in specific communities adapted to their needs and their degree of dependence.

With the same radiance of Anne-Marie Javouhey, who put all her trust in God, our communities, with their dynamism and their limitations, chose to engaged on the path of the new evangelization.
