To "kick off” the jubilee year, all the sisters of the communities of Peru gathered in the chapel of the provincial house in a spirit of reflective participation "to look at the past with gratitude, live the present with passion, and embrace the future with hope".
Before lunch, in response to Pope Francis’ invitation, we stopped for a minute to ask for peace. Catechists of our mission in Saramiriza and a representative of the associates of Cajamarca accompanied us.
The evening was the culmination of the opening celebrations : the Eucharistic concelebration was presided over by Bishop Adriano Tomasi OFM, a former auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Lima and a great friend of the Congregation in Peru. Eight priests concelebrated. Bishop Tomasi’s homily assisted us in deepening the meaning of this celebration, a moment of thanksgiving for the past and hope for the future.
At the end of the Eucharist, Sister Miriam Felix, Provincial Superior, inspired by a phrase from our founding Mother, took the floor to thank the Lord and all those present.
After the celebration of the Eucharist, while sharing a simple banquet, we all enjoyed a brief presentation on the history of the communities that make up the Peru-Cuba Province.
May the memory of the Sisters who preceded us stimulate us, to continue today the task begun yesterday, with the same enthusiasm and openness to the Will of God that has encouraged and supported them in dedication in every area of the mission.
