Papua New Guinea
- 3 communities
- 13 sisters
- Founded in 1971
The first foundation in Australia was in 1904 in Port Fairy. However, the sisters withdrew in 1913. In 1950 the present foundation began with sisters ministering in the seminary at Corpus Christi College, Werribee, Victoria. In 1972 a home for the elderly was established in Kew followed by a novitiate. The sisters were involved in parish, nursing and education ministries.
Today, even though they are older and there are few vocations, the sisters continue to reach out to those in need wherever and whenever they can. The focus of our ministry in Australia is now on pastoral care and includes:
- supporting women in crisis or seeking asylum
- care facilities for the elderly, including some of our own sisters
- voluntary work with autistic children
- medical interpreter in hospitals and agency for social assistance
- part-time chaplaincy
- ministry of presence and prayer
In Papua New Guinea, we have a community in Port Moresby and two communities in remote areas of the mountains. Our mission of evangelization takes place through our ministries of education along with social, pastoral and health care.
- high school in Bema
- distance education, adult correspondence school
- literacy schools & formation of tutors
- religious and family life education
- facilitation at Xavier Institute
- retreat work and Formation to local Religious.
- street ministry
- village patrols
- health care through pharmacy / AIDS awareness/ testing
- counselling
Our consecration to God brings us into a community of sisters gathered together for the sake of the mission!
